Well this was a mammoth of a project.
This was soo much harder than I ever thought, well it would have been easier had I known how to hand sew before I started. I may have mentioned a few times before that I am lucky enough to have a mother-in-law who used to be a seamstress, and even more lucky that we get along like a house on fire. Over Christmas she taught me some hand sewing basics so we were able to put Jingles face on.

Now Jingles isn’t any ordinary sock monkey. He’s half monkey, half blankie and half play toy… Whoops that’s too many halves! Before I go on let me show you.

As you can see Jingles is fairly special and is more musical that you can see. He has a squeeker in his mouth and a jingle column in his head. Then if we head down to the blankie part his underside is supersoft minky and has a rattle, a teether, a knot and a link. For those who love the sock monkeys and wonder why I haven’t made a proper pom pom it’s because my little man is going to have Jingles and every pom pom I made you could easily pull out the wool – if anyone can give me advice on how to make one better I would love to hear it (without glue please, non toxic as jingle will be eaten
)
On the back of Jingles I gave him a cute little monkey tail and put Lachlan’s name on him. He’s a one of a kind but you just never know.

I also appliqued Jingles name on the front which I cut out using my ecraft. I love how great this looks although it took forever and on the odd occasion my sewing machine did want to eat the flannel but we got there in the end.

I cant wait to give Jingles to Lachie after his next nap. Hopefully he loves him as much as I do.
Update:
Lachie absolutely loves his Jingle, here’s a few shots from his first play. Now of course at first Jingles went through a very close inspection…

And then the monster took hold and like all good toys Lachie had to bury his face in it.

Followed of course by the taste test, which of course (unlike all the solids we’ve been trying) Jingles passed!

Well looks like Jingles was a hit and I can’t be happier!
